INTRODUCTION OF TRADE PROMOTION CENTER (TPC)

The Trade Promotion Center (TPC) is an agency of His Majesty's Government of Nepal. It was established as a Secretariat of Nepal Trade Promotion Board (Organization order) set up in 1971 under the Nepal Development Board Act 2013 (1956) for the promotion and development of external trade of Nepal. The functions of the Center, inter alia, include the following :

 "to represent or to arrange for representation as and when necessary in the prominent trading centers in foreign countries with a view to safeguarding the trade interests of the country or to accelerate on export trade".

The Center's major activities are :

  • Export product research and development services.

  • Export market development and promotion services.

  • International market research.

  • Regular contacts and exchange of information with the Royal Nepalese missions abroad for export promotion of Nepal.

  • Trade information services.
  • Counseling and documentation services to exporters, and manufacturers of export products.

  • Liaison with trade and cooperation related international agencies such as international Trade Center, UNCTAD/WTO, ESCAP, EEC, GTZ, SAARC, etc.

  • Organization and management of Nepal's participation in international trade fairs, exhibition, shows and store promotion programmers.

  • Counseling services to the Government on international trade relations.

  • Publication of trade journals, statistics, product brochures and catalogues, trade directories, etc.
