IDENTIFYING POTENTIAL IMPORTERS

Identification of the potential importers of selected and major export products of Nepal in the markets of the duty station is one of the most important activities of the mission officials. The most important products for which enquiries are likely to receive from Nepal are: woolen hand-knotted carpets, readymade cotton/rayon garments, handicrafts, hides and skins, pashmina products, woolen knit-wears, lentils, etc. Therefore, it is recommended to prepare a list of all potential importers of such products in the main area of the duty station from the following sources:

• Trade directories,

• Contacts with the concerned officials of import promotion office and requests made for the names and addresses of importers of selected products,

• Contacts with the association of importers of selected products and getting the list of names and addresses of members of such an association, and

• Meeting with the most potential importers of selected products and getting information on their interests and types of products they require from Nepal.
