Department of Customs and the Trade and Export Promotion Centre sign Memorandum of Understanding

On Friday September 1st 2017 a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was entered into by the Department of Customs (DOC) and the Trade and Export Promotion Centre (TEPC). Attended by the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Mr. Rabi Shankar Sainju, the MOU was signed by DOC Director General Mr. Ramsharan Chimoriya and TEPC Executive Director Mr. Sarad Bikram Rana.
The Memorandum of Understanding provides the basis for the expanded sharing of trade related information and data between the organisations, with the goal of enhancing the provision of online services to support and facilitate trade. Specifically, the MOU will enable the provision of trade data intelligence through the Nepal Trade Information Portal (NTIP), leveraging information accessed from the Nepal Customs Automation System (NECAS) through web services. In parallel, the MOU sets out the sharing of information by TEPC to include data associated with Certificate of Origin (CO) and Generalized System Preferences (GSP) to further support the operations and services of the two organizations. Confirming the shared commitment set out in the MOU, Mr. Surendra Gongal, TEPC Director, said “Today’s agreement highlights the continued progress being made in providing advanced information services to the trade community. We look forward to delivering additional trade intelligence and statistical information through the Nepal Trade Information Portal while also sharing further data to support the operations and services of the Department of Customs”.
